Grand Ashura gathering in Chiniot pays tribute to martyrs of Karbala

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) A grand Central Ashura gathering was organized by the Department of education of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif at Jamia Masjid on the occasion of Ashura, drawing prominent religious scholars from across Pakistan and a large number of devotees from Chiniot district. The event was presided over by the university's president, Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Sialvi, who led the congregation in paying tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.

In his presidential address, Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Sialvi highlighted the supreme sacrifice of Sayyid-e-Shuhada Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), emphasizing his unwavering patience, courage and steadfastness during the Battle of Karbala. He said the tragedy of Karbala remains a shared sorrow for the entire Muslim Ummah and a timeless lesson in faith, sacrifice and resistance against injustice.

Addressing the participants, he said the annual gathering was held to express devotion and reverence for Imam Hussain (RA) and reaffirm the enduring message of Karbala. He expressed the hope that the congregation would continue in the years ahead, adding that organizers were committed to holding the event on an even larger scale next year.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs of Karbala, peace and security in Pakistan, and unity among the Muslim Ummah. Afterwards, Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq Sialvi distributed sweetened milk among the participants and members of the public as part of the Ashura observance.
