Grand jirga demands establishment of new Gomal Tehsil

TANK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) A grand jirga organized by Gomal Naujawan Tehreek called for the establishment of a new Gomal Tehsil, with broad participation from local leaders, elders, and community members.

The jirga was organized by Engr Ghulam Muhammad Khan Miani, Shoukat Ali Khan, Kifayat Ullah, Tariq Shah Garwaki and others, while former MPA Mehmood Ahmad Bettani also extended full support to the initiative.

In a related development, a consultative meeting of Gomal Naujawan Tehreek was held under the leadership of the committee, where local elders and community representatives discussed issues.

During the meeting, a committee was formally constituted under the chairmanship of the Chairman, with members assigned specific responsibilities.

The committee urged the sitting MNA and MPA to fulfill their responsibilities by supporting the initiative and forwarding their demands to the Chief Minister for prompt action.

It was further decided that regular meetings would be held to ensure continuous efforts toward resolving issues faced by the community, while the Chief Minister and provincial authorities were requested to issue transparent and merit-based orders.

Participants warned that failure to address these concerns could lead to strong protests and public-level actions to secure their rights.

Former MPA Mehmood Ahmad Bettani, while expressing his views on the occasion, said that the demand for a new Gomal Tehsil reflects the genuine aspirations of the local population. He assured full support to the movement and pledged to raise the issue at every relevant forum to ensure that the right of the people are recognized and addressed.
