KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) A grand reception ceremony was held in honor of the returning Malakhra wrestlers after the success of the Pakistan–Osaka Culture Festival in Japan at the Youth Development Center South Karachi.
The event was attended by Sindh Minister for Sports Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar and Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar.
Director of Sports Asad Ishaq, Section Officer Ali Dano Gopang, DSOs Fareed Ali, Ismail Shah, Hajra Nawab, Muhammad Usman, Hina and other officials were also present.
At the start of the ceremony, the provincial minister presented shields and cash prizes to Malakhra wrestlers Munthar Ali Bugti and Qurban Ali while other wrestlers, who performed outstandingly in Japan were also awarded cash prizes.
The Sindh Sports Minister said that these athletes have brought honor not only to Sindh but to all of Pakistan.
Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar said that through their efforts, the PCB has decided to organize the Pakistan Cup, which will begin after the PSL, with provincial teams participating. Sindh has already started preparing its team.
He emphasized that they will continue to raise their voice for the rights of Sindh’s players and will work with the PCB to promote sports.
The minister added that the Sindh government is taking practical steps to promote traditional games and will increase prize money for cultural sports.
He announced that Malakhra has been formally included in the annual sports calendar, and other traditional games such as Kabaddi will also be promoted.
In the end, the minister expressed disappointment over the performance of the national team saying that the team must improve as the nation is disheartened by their current performance.
