An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed the interim bail of Muzaffar Iqbal, co-accused of former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi, in the corruption and kickbacks reference concerning Gujrat development projects

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Mar, 2026) An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed the interim bail of Muzaffar Iqbal, co-accused of former Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi, in the corruption and kickbacks reference concerning Gujrat development projects.

Following the court’s order, Muzaffar Iqbal was arrested from the courtroom and taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office. He is scheduled to be presented in court tomorrow for physical remand.

NAB Prosecutor Haris Qureshi argued that the arrest of the accused was necessary for ongoing investigations, a stance upheld by Additional Judge Rana Arif, who dismissed the interim bail application of the accused.

The reference also Names several officers of the Punjab Highway Department and other co-accused, including Khalid Mehmood Chattha, Salman Ahmed, Asad Ali, Naeem Iqbal, Muhammad Asghar, and Asif Mehmood Rathore.

The allegations against Pervez Elahi and others relate to receiving kickbacks and bribes in the execution of development projects in Gujrat.
