Gunfight leaves robber dead, accomplice escapes

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Mar, 2026) A suspected robber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape after an exchange of fire with the Dolphin Force in the Sadiqabad police limits here on the late night of Wednesday, the police spokesman said.

According to details, two motorcyclists were robbing citizens at gunpoint when a Dolphin team reached the spot. Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliatory firing by the police party. During the encounter, one robber sustained critical injuries and was shifted to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, while his accomplice fled the scene.

The deceased was identified as Haseeb, a record-holder allegedly involved in dozens of cases of robbery and illegal weapons. Police recovered three snatched mobile phones, weapons, and the motorcycle used in the crime from his possession.

Two of the recovered mobile phones were reportedly snatched earlier from a citizen within the New Town area, while one was taken during the ongoing robbery attempt.

A police constable, Zaryab, also came under fire during the exchange, however, remained unharmed due to his bulletproof jacket.

Senior police officers reached the scene along with heavy police contingent and launched a search operation to arrest the fleeing suspect.

City Police Officer (CPO), Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani commended the performance of Dolphin team for foiling the robbery attempt with bravery and recovering the stolen items. He reiterated that those who attack citizens and police would not escape the law.
