Hands-on free training equips youth from Lakki Marwat with digital skills

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) A cohort of approximately 40 youth from militancy-affected district of Lakki Marwat received hands-on, free digital skills training, resulting in improved employability and job placements for many participants.

The students from Lakki Marwat were referred by Lucky Cement to Mohsin and Huma Mass IT (MHIT) training centre in Peshawar, a flagship initiative by Aziz Jan Trust imparting free IT training to thousands of youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Saylani Welfare Trust.

“Administration of Lucky Cement headed by its chief, Muhammad Ali Tabba approached MHIT for training of a batch of young students from Lucky Cement in October 2024,” informed Aqleem Orakzai, Administrator MHIT.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the three organizations for imparting skill training especially in Information Technology for equipping the youth of Lakki Marwat with practical skills of livelihood.

The selected students were provided free education, boarding and feeding facility jointly by Lucky Cement, Mohsin and Huma Information Technology and Saylani Welfare Trust.

The initiative creates pathways to equip thousands of young people from terrorism-affected areas with sustainable livelihood opportunities, engaging them in meaningful activities that protect their future and guide them toward long-term growth and development.

Aqleem informed that out of 40 students around 17 received training in Graphic Designing and 13 of them have secured jobs soon after completion of course.

Similarly, the same number of students are attending classes in Web Development and their course is scheduled for completion in July 2026. Around six students could not compete their course due to several reasons, he added.

The students were completely novice in computer studies and have started training by learning from very basic.

“Established in 2023, Mohsin and Huma Information Technology Centre is offering free IT training to young people with the vision of equipping new generation with modern digital skills, enabling them to pursue self-employment opportunities through freelancing,” says Sara Afan, Head of MHIT.

Since its beginning in 2023, MHIT has imparted IT skill training to around 5500 students out of which more than 1000 have achieved professional and entrepreneurial success by securing jobs or starting businesses, she told APP.

Currently, more than 2,000 students are enrolled in the fifth batch of MHIT and are actively attending classes across various skill areas including Artificial Intelligence.

The institute has also set up an incubation centre and auditorium hall which will further improve learning of students and add to their professional competence, Sara added.
