HBL PSL 11: Lahore police launch crackdown on gamblers

A total of 265 individuals involved in gambling have been arrested this year, say local police

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 26th, 2026) In the wake of the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 season matches, Lahore Police on Thursday launched a targeted crackdown on illegal gambling operations across the city.

The police said a total of 265 individuals involved in gambling have been arrested this year. Authorities have registered 84 separate cases against the suspects.

During the operations, law enforcement agencies also seized over 1.1 million Pakistani rupees in gambling stakes from the arrested individuals. The police are committed to ensuring that such illegal activities are swiftly curbed, especially during the high-profile PSL tournament.

Lahore CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed police officials to intensify their efforts against both physical gambling dens and online betting platforms.

He stressed that individuals involved in exploiting the youth through gambling will not be shown any leniency. Kamyana also ordered intelligence-based raids on gambling dens to ensure a more effective approach.

Furthermore, the CCPO emphasized the use of advanced technology to track and apprehend those engaged in online gambling, ensuring that all involved are held accountable.

Besides it, the CCPO highlighted that with support from the prosecution department, those caught participating in gambling activities would be brought to justice and face the full legal consequences of their actions.
