Health sector spending rises 1.9% to Rs 942.2 billion: Economic Survey

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Pakistan's public health expenditure increased by 1.9 percent in FY2025, reaching Rs 942.2 billion compared to Rs 924.9 billion in FY2024, according to the Economic Survey 2025-26.

The survey noted that public health spending plays a vital role in achieving universal health coverage and improving access to healthcare services across the country.

Despite the increase, health expenditure as a share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) remains relatively low. However, the report expressed optimism that allocations to the health sector will gradually rise in the coming years to meet growing healthcare needs and strengthen the country's health system.
