MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) More than 290 hearing aids had been distributed to hearing-impaired children under the “Sound for Students” initiative
after a comprehensive screening drive across the division.
Commissioner Amir Karim Khan in the distribution ceremony arranged here Saturday, said medical boards set up in four districts conducted detailed examinations of 3,030 children. Following audiology testing, over 300 children were identified as candidates who could regain hearing ability through hearing aids and speech therapy.
In tehsil Multan and Jalalpur Pirwala, more than 200 hearing aids were distributed among 98 children, while 90 devices were provided to 77 children in Shujaabad.
Similar targets have also been achieved in other districts of the division to ensure wider coverage of the programme.
He said the screening campaign revealed that many children and their parents were previously unaware of the severity of hearing loss, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. He added that hearing restoration would open new opportunities for education, employment and social inclusion for the affected children.
The hearing aids were arranged with the support of PARCO and philanthropists to ensure uninterrupted assistance for deserving families.
Deputy Commissioner Nauman Siddiq, Additional Commissioner Karim Bakhsh and DO Special Education Zeeshan attended the ceremony.
