RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Mar, 2026) Continuous rainfall for the past 16 hours, coupled with dense fog, has reduced visibility to as low as 5 meters in Murree and surrounding areas, prompting authorities to issue a travel advisory, Police said on Wednesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer, said intermittent rain had intensified the cold and led to thick fog engulfing the region. He added that the ongoing rainfall was contributing to a further increase in fog density.
“As of 8:30 p.m., visibility at various locations has dropped to a critical level of just five metres,” he said.
The DPO advised tourists and residents to exercise extreme caution while driving and to use fog lights to avoid accidents. He also urged travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys due to slippery road conditions and poor visibility.
Tanveer said personnel from Murree Police, the Punjab Traffic Police and Rescue 1122 had been deployed in the field to assist citizens and tourists and to respond promptly in case of emergencies.
He appealed to motorists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to ensure safety amid the prevailing weather conditions.
