ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Heavy rain continued in several areas of the Federal capital, prompting the district administration to deploy officers in the field to manage the situation and ensure public safety.
According to officials, teams from different departments remained active across the city as rainwater accumulated in low-lying areas. Sanitation staff used water pumps and other equipment to drain water and prevent blockages on roads and streets.
Assistant Commissioners carried out continuous monitoring of low-lying localities and drainage channels. The administration said dewatering pumps were being used to clear standing water and reduce the risk of urban flooding in vulnerable areas.
Officials added that coordination with traffic police was underway to maintain the flow of vehicles on major roads.
Efforts were focused on preventing congestion and ensuring that key routes remained open despite the ongoing rain.
The district administration stated that all available resources were being used to handle the situation. Field staff were directed to respond quickly to any reports of water accumulation or drainage issues.
A spokesperson for the administration urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing weather conditions. Residents were advised to stay informed and follow official updates to avoid inconvenience.
