KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar visited the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi.
He was received by ICCBS Director Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, along with Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, former HEC chairman and former Federal minister for science and technology, and other senior officials, said a spokesperson on Tuesday.
During a meeting with Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman and Prof. Raza Shah, Dr. Akhtar appreciated the state-of-the-art research facilities available to students at ICCBS.
He noted that it was his first visit to the center and expressed admiration for its international standing as a leading institution of scientific research.
Dr. Akhtar also highlighted the importance of strengthening research infrastructure in higher education institutions to promote innovation and academic excellence in the country.
Dr. Akhtar also met Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, and discussed matters of mutual interest.
