HEC chairman visits LUMHS, reviews academic & medical facilities

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar paid a detailed visit to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), where he reviewed various academic, medical and research facilities.

Upon arrival, he was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Ikram Din Ujjan. The visit commenced with the inauguration of a free medical and allied health camp organized for students and the general public.

According to a university spokesperson, the HEC chairman was given a tour of the campus using eco-friendly electric and mini pick and drop vehicles. He also visited the outpatient department (OPD) of the newly established Services Hospital, Jamshoro and appreciated the healthcare services being provided there.

Dr Akhtar later visited the university’s sports hall, where he was briefed about modern facilities aimed at promoting students’ health and fitness.

He also inspected the state-of-the-art digital library and the computerized examination center, where officials gave a detailed briefing on modern educational resources, digital systems and transparent examination processes.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Niaz Akhtar praised the leadership, vision and performance of the Vice-Chancellor, and remarked that the development and improvement of LUMHS were clearly visible and credited the VC for steering the institution towards modernization and rapid progress.

He further noted that all projects approved by HEC had been completed on time under the VC’s leadership, with some even finalized ahead of schedule, reflecting strong administrative capabilities.

At the conclusion of the visit, both the HEC chairman and the vice-chancellor reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the fields of higher education and healthcare.
