HEC Team paid visit to UVAS for accessibility Audit of University for Wheel Chair Facilities

Prof Dr Muhammad Younus briefed about UVAS historic importance in veterinary science, five faculties, campuses, faculty strength, various professional degrees programme, university ranking and services for livestock farming community to boost national economy

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 14th, 2026) Higher education Commission (HEC) team led by Director General Research & Analysis Activities (R&AA) Mr Saleem Ullah Sohoo along with Deputy Director (R&AA) Mr Riaz Ahmad Qureshi and Disability Officer Mr Meer Hassan visited the University of Veterinary & Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I).

Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held at City Campus Lahore and Prof Dr Muhammad Younus presided over the meeting while UVAS Deans, Chairpersons of different departments, administrative officers and faculty members were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus briefed about UVAS historic importance in veterinary science, five faculties, campuses, faculty strength, various professional degrees programme, university ranking and services for the livestock farming community to boost national economy. He said UVAS recently has secured a significant position in the subject of Veterinary Science and stands among 51-100 best universities of the world in the subject rankings according to QS Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2026. He said UVAS all faculties related to veterinary science and these faculties play their vital role for uplift of veterinary profession in Pakistan. He also talked about the key points regarding the income generation of university especially for its financial sustainability. He mentioned UVAS Anti-Harassment Committee working on zero tolerance and always following HEC guidelines to address such issues and he shared UVAS campuses are smoke free and imposed penalties/punishments against violations.

Mr Saleem Ullah Sohoo shared HEC rules & guidelines to address drug and harassment issues, new facilities, initiatives for students for their betterment. He said it is necessary to arranged seminars in the university for the awareness of students.

Various aspects have been discussed during meeting related to university refund policy, HEC rules and regulations for anti-drug, working against harassment and role of harassment committee, review of classrooms, libraries, laboratories, restrooms, common areas, information Technology and other essential facilities, evaluation of accessible routes, parking facilities & signage, Interviews with key stakeholders to gather insights and understand specific challenges etc. Later HEC team visited various departments of UVAS to review of classrooms, libraries, laboratories, restrooms, common areas and other essential facilities of university.

Meanwhile a certificate distribution ceremony also held of Mentoring Module Session of HEC Mentoring Program at UVAS Veterinary academy jointly organized by Mentorship Programme Committee (MPC) & Center for Educational Policy and Administration (CEPA).

Director General (R&AA) Mr Saleem Ullah Sohoo presided over the ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants while VC Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Convener (MPC) Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Organizing Secretary Dr Sadia Nawaz and few participants were present in the ceremony.
