HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) In reaction to the April 23 incident of electrocution which claimed lives of 3 children in Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has approached the district administration to take action against encroachments along their transmission network.

In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abedin Memon, a Superintending Engineer of HESCO recalled that 3 children lost their lives in Tando Tayab area after one of them became stuck with 11,000 KV transmission wire and 2 others died while trying to save him.

"According to the technical team's survey, the Primary cause of this unfortunate incident was encroachment," he stated.

The official stated that many residents of Hyderabad had extended their residential constructions very close to the 11,000 KV wires of the company, both in height and horizontal distance.

"In several areas, these high-voltage lines have entered residential premises, and in some cases, utility poles are now located within private properties," he pointed out.

The SE warned that the situation might pose serious threats to human lives and could lead to further tragic incidents.

The official suggested that a joint team comprising officers of HESCO and the Anti Encroachment Cell should be formed to identify and remove such encroachments.

According to the SE, the company's Executive Engineers from all the subdivisions would coordinate with the proposed team.
