ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Major development and expansion works have been completed at Miqat Dhu Al-Hulayfah Mosque to improve services and facilities for pilgrims during the Hajj 1447 AH season.
According to SPA, the upgrades increased the mosque’s capacity from 5,000 to more than 15,000 worshippers to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims arriving to enter the state of Ihram before heading towards Makkah.
The report said the development works included the installation of new carpets and a modern sound system supported by more than 190 indoor and outdoor speakers to improve the worship experience for visitors.
More than 24 walkways have also been developed to facilitate easier movement within the Miqat area, while over 600 trees and shrubs have been planted to improve the surrounding environment.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Authorities have additionally installed more than 7,000 lighting units to enhance visibility, safety and operational efficiency across the site.
The upgraded area now includes over 40 retail and service outlets, including cafés and shops serving pilgrims, while a modern surveillance system supported by more than 300 cameras has been introduced to strengthen security and crowd management.
The development forms part of broader efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing services for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
