BUREWALA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th May, 2026) Punjab Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique visited various areas of Burewala to review Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operations, being carried out under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Commissioner Multan Division Amir Karim Khan and Deputy Commissioner Vehari Khalid Javed Goraya accompanied the minister during the visit. The minister inspected the Suthra Punjab camp, established at Chungi No. 5, where the Burewala assistant commissioner briefed him on the ongoing cleanliness operation and waste disposal arrangements.
Expressing satisfaction over the sanitation measures in Burewala, Zeeshan Rafique directed the authorities concerned to continue cleanliness activities with full dedication until the last day of Eid-ul-Azha. He said that a historic cleanliness operation was underway across Punjab under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The minister paid tribute to the workers of the Suthra Punjab programme, stating that sanitation staff rendered remarkable services despite intense heat and challenging weather conditions. “Workers serving citizens in extreme weather are our real heroes,” he remarked.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He further said that sacrificial animal waste and offal were removed from streets and neighbourhoods on the very first day of Eid and shifted to designated dumping points in a timely manner. He added that rose-water was sprinkled on major roads while the use of phenyl and lime was also ensured to maintain hygiene and eliminate foul odour.
Zeeshan Rafique stated that the Suthra Punjab programme had emerged as one of the world’s largest and most unique sanitation management systems, adding that its teams had become a symbol of national service and public welfare. “I am personally visiting Burewala, Vehari and adjoining areas to monitor the operation, and we will remain fully active until the completion of the Eid cleanliness campaign,” he said.
The provincial minister added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was monitoring the entire operation round-the-clock to ensure effective sanitation arrangements across the province.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General and MD Suthra Punjab Agency Ghulam Murtaza, along with other officers, were also present.
