History-sheeter killed in alleged police encounter

DG KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) A history-sheeter criminal was killed during an alleged police encounter within the limits of Gudai Police Station, DG Khan.

According to police officials, Gudai police received information that suspected criminals were present near a canal allegedly planning to commit a crime.

On this information, SHO Gudai along with a police team reached the spot.

Police said that upon seeing the team, the suspects opened indiscriminate firing in an attempt to escape. The police retaliated in self-defence, in accordance with standard operational procedure. An exchange of fire continued for some time.

During the crossfire, one suspect, Ijaz alias Jaji Massoorie, was killed allegedly by firing from his own accomplices, while the rest managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.

Police further stated that the deceased was involved in multiple cases of gambling, theft and other street crimes. Weapons were recovered from the scene.

After the incident, senior police officers reached the spot. The crime scene unit collected evidences and completed necessary formalities.

DPO DG Khan said that action against criminal groups would continue without any compromise. He added that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the foremost responsibility of the police.
