LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora on Tuesday attended a vibrant Holi celebration at the University of the Punjab as chief guest, terming the event a reflection of Punjab’s growing culture of diversity, inclusion and interfaith harmony.
The event, organized by the Sindh Students Collective, marked the first time a provincial minister participated in a Holi celebration on the university campus.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister said the celebration reflects the inclusive vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, under which interfaith harmony is being actively promoted across the province to ensure equal opportunities for all citizens.
He said that minority festivals are being celebrated at the official level for the first time in Punjab’s history, adding that Christmas was observed over 14 days and Vaisakhi festivities were held for nine days at the provincial level.
Ramesh Singh Arora also noted that Pakistan hosted more than 6,000 Sikh pilgrims during Vaisakhi this year, presenting a peaceful and positive image of the country to the world. He said his participation in the Holi event aimed at encouraging minority students and expressing solidarity with them.
A large number of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Sikh students participated in the event. Chairperson Film and Broadcasting Department Dr. Lubna Zaheer was also present on the occasion.
Currently, around 100 Hindu and Sikh students are enrolled at Punjab University, while several hundred students from minority communities are pursuing higher education at the campus.
