ICT admin anti-encroachment drive: 27 arrested, 121 structures removed

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Anti-encroachment operations continued across the Federal capital as district administration teams carried out actions in several areas, resulting in 27 arrests, the removal of 121 structures and installations, and the sealing of one under-construction building.

Officials said the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to clear public spaces and enforce building regulations across Islamabad.

According to the district administration, Assistant Commissioners remained active in different parts of the city and took action against illegal constructions and encroachments.

Assistant Commissioner Nilore sealed an under-construction building near the Hostel City drain. Officials said the building was sealed because the owner had failed to construct a retaining wall alongside the drain, a requirement aimed at protecting the surrounding area and public infrastructure.

In another operation, Assistant Commissioner Saddar conducted an enforcement drive on GT Road in Sangjhani. During the action, 27 people were arrested for establishing encroachments on public land and along road corridors.

Assistant Commissioner Nilore also led an operation against encroachments on Lehtrar Road. During the drive, enforcement teams removed and demolished a total of 121 structures and installations, including 55 sheds, 12 staircases, 21 grills, 14 walls, and 19 signboards that had been set up in violation of regulations.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner City carried out an operation in Sector E-7 against encroachments established in the form of cabins outside residential properties. During the action, cabins placed outside 13 houses were removed to restore public space and ensure compliance with municipal rules.

A spokesperson for the district administration said that anti-encroachment teams have so far removed cabins from outside more than 1,000 houses across Islamabad. The spokesperson added that the campaign is being conducted in different sectors and localities as part of a wider effort to address illegal occupation of public land.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has directed all Assistant Commissioners to continue daily operations against encroachments without discrimination. Officials said enforcement teams will maintain regular inspections and take action wherever violations are identified.

The district administration has urged residents and business owners to comply with regulations and avoid constructing structures on public land, warning that action will continue against all forms of encroachment across the capital.
