ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The district administration Islamabad on Thursday issued a notification imposing new business closing hours under austerity measures, effective from April 16, 2026.

Markets and shopping malls will shut at 8:00 pm, while restaurants and food outlets will close at 10:00 pm. The move aims to regulate commercial activity across the Federal capital with fixed timings for different sectors.

According to the notification, all shops, markets and shopping malls will close at 8:00 pm throughout the week, including weekends. However, certain essential services have been exempted from this restriction. Hotels, restaurants, food outlets, tandoors, grocery stores, kiryana shops, meat shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, and bakeries will be allowed to operate until 10:00 pm.

There will be no restriction on takeaway and home delivery services, allowing businesses to continue limited operations beyond closing hours.

In addition, all sports facilities and clubs, including gyms, must close by 8:00 pm under the new guidelines.
