ICT Police net 2,924 suspects in 4 months, seize over 210kg drugs, 689 weapons

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested 2,924 suspects, including 1,668 proclaimed offenders, during the first four months of 2026 in a major crackdown against criminal elements, recovering large quantities of drugs and illegal weapons.

An official told APP on Sunday that 1,256 accused were arrested for illegal arms possession, display of weapons and drug trafficking.

He said during indiscriminate operations against narcotics dealers, police arrested 538 drug peddlers.

The official said police recovered 94 kilograms of hashish, over 64 kilograms of heroin, 52 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine) and 2,342 bottles of liquor from the arrested suspects.

He said in cases related to illegal arms, 718 accused were arrested during the same period.

The official said police recovered 608 pistols, 47 rifles/guns, 34 Kalashnikovs, 57 daggers and a large quantity of ammunition from their possession.

He said ICT Police also ensured the arrest of 1,668 proclaimed offenders involved in various crimes during the first four months of the year.

DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq said the police would continue implementing a zero-tolerance policy against crime to ensure protection of citizens.

He said all-out efforts would be made to eliminate crime and maintain law and order in the Federal capital.
