ICT Police put injured dacoit in handcuffs, accomplices flee after encounter

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police arrested an injured member of a dacoit gang after an exchange of fire during a search operation in Khanna police station limits, while his accomplices managed to flee from the scene.

An official told APP on Wednesday that a police team was conducting a search operation after receiving information regarding the presence of criminal elements in the area.

He said armed dacoits hiding in the area opened indiscriminate fire on the police team as soon as they spotted the officers.

The official said police personnel remained safe due to timely protective measures and bulletproof jackets.

He said during the encounter, one dacoit was injured by firing from his own accomplice and was arrested on the spot, while his accomplices escaped.

The official said a 30-bore pistol used in criminal activities was recovered from the arrested accused.

He said the injured accused was wanted by Islamabad Police in multiple cases of robbery, street crime and injuring citizens during criminal incidents.

The official said search operations were underway to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
