IG Police praises peaceful conclusion of Ashura processions in Balochistan

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, has said that the peaceful conclusion of Ashura processions across Quetta and other districts was made possible through the cooperation and guidance of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Corps Commander Balochistan Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan.

The IG Police commended the role of scholars from all schools of thought, representatives of traders’ associations, the Shia Conference, procession organizers, and citizens for their commitment, patience, and cooperation. He noted that their collective efforts ensured that Ashura processions throughout the province ended safely and peacefully.

In a statement, he further praised the performance of law enforcement agencies, including police, district administration, Frontier Corps, and other concern departments. He highlighted that these institutions demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication, and hard work in providing foolproof security for all Ashura processions across Balochistan.

The IG Police emphasized that the success of these security measures reflects the unity and resilience of the people and institutions of the province in maintaining peace and harmony during Muharram.
