IG Punjab assures foolproof security on Easter

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2026) Strict security arrangements have been made across Punjab for Easter, with police personnel on high alert.

Inspector General Punjab Abdul Karim, while extending Easter greetings to the Christian community as well as Christian officers and personnel, emphasized that the Punjab Police is an equal partner in their celebrations.

He said over 17,000 officers and personnel have been deployed for the security of 3,153 Easter events across the province, including more than 3,000 personnel assigned to 647 programs in Lahore. Additional personnel, snipers, and police commandos have been stationed at sensitive churches, with full screening and identification checks for entry.

IG Punjab directed police and community volunteers to remain vigilant, monitor suspicious individuals or activities, and maintain close surveillance around churches. Supervisory officers have been instructed to personally oversee security arrangements.

Regional, city, and district police officers (RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs) have been ordered to stay in close contact with church administrations, while Dolphin, Peru, and Elite Force units will conduct patrolling around churches. Security checks have also been strengthened at entry and exit points in major cities and towns across Punjab.
