IG Sindh, Bar Council delegation discuss legal affairs, cooperation

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho met a four-member delegation of the Sindh Bar Council at the Central Police Office Karachi and discussed matters relating to security, legal affairs and cooperation between police and the legal fraternity.

The delegation was led by Vice Chairman, Sindh Bar Council, Ishtiaq Ahmed Memon and included council members Ayaz Tanio, Riaz Ahmed Bhatti and Arun Prasad, said a news release issued here the other day.

Deputy Inspector General Headquarters and Assistant Inspector General Legal were also present during the meeting.

According to a police statement, both sides held detailed discussions on the ongoing protest by students of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University, promotion of mutual cooperation, issues faced by the lawyers’ community, security matters and legal affairs.

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General (IG) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho said the legal fraternity played a key role in the provision of justice and upholding the rule of law.

He said Sindh Police attached great importance to effective coordination and mutual cooperation with lawyers.

The IG Sindh further said close liaison between police and lawyers was essential for ensuring timely and transparent justice to the public.

Javed Alam Odho added that consultations with all stakeholders would continue for improvement in legal affairs, strengthening of the investigation process and effective delivery of justice.

The Bar Council delegation reaffirmed its commitment to further promoting joint efforts for the rule of law, protection of citizens and effective dispensation of justice.
