LARKANA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, arrived in Larkana on Tuesday, where he was presented a guard of honour by a police contingent in full dress upon his arrival.
During his visit, the IG Sindh chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order situation in Larkana and Sukkur divisions, including progress on the Katcha area operation, “Najat-e-Mehran,” and related policing measures.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Larkana/Sukkur Nasir Aftab, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana, SSP Sukkur, SP Special Sukkur, SP Special Larkana, and other senior police officers.
DIG Nasir Aftab briefed the IG on the prevailing law and order situation, crime trends, police performance, and the ongoing Operation Najat-e-Mehran.
He informed that the situation in the Katcha area remains largely satisfactory, with targeted operations against criminal elements continuing. He added that police presence has been further enhanced to ensure the protection of life and property of citizens.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance of his team, IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho said that the success of Operation Najat-e-Mehran reflects the dedication, hard work, and bravery of police officers and personnel.
He directed officers to adopt a new strategy to combat drug-related crimes, particularly the use and sale of gutka and mawa, and stressed that action should be taken without discrimination. He also instructed that drug cases be made non-bailable by ensuring strong and solid evidence.
The IG emphasized that the police should not remain content with the current law and order situation but should continue striving for further improvement. He warned that no negligence would be tolerated in maintaining law and order.
Highlighting public service, he said that complaints from citizens must be addressed promptly and police response should be further improved. He reiterated that maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and taking strict action against drugs remain the Primary responsibilities of the police.
