LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Tuesday chaired an introductory meeting of the Crime Control Department (CCD) at the Central Police Office, where he was briefed on the department’s mandate, objectives, targets, performance and challenges.
The meeting also reviewed the CCD’s infrastructure, human resources, logistics and administrative matters.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, IGP Punjab Abdul Kareem appreciated the overall performance of the CCD, especially its role in curbing heinous crimes across the province.
Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chattha informed that the department, in coordination with district police, is taking effective measures to eliminate serious crimes including robbery, theft, highway robbery, vehicle theft and snatching of cars and motorcycles.
He said that the CCD is operating with the support of a comprehensive criminals’ database, modern surveillance and monitoring systems, trackers and advanced IT technology.
He further stated that since the establishment of the CCD, a noticeable reduction in heinous crimes has been recorded across the province, reflecting the department’s effective operational performance.
The IGP Punjab said that under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Safe Punjab Vision, the eradication of all heinous crimes, including narcotics-related offences, would be ensured. He added that additional resources would be provided to the CCD to further strengthen its operational capacity and achieve departmental objectives.
DIG CCD Waqas-ul-Hassan, SSPs CCD, regional and district officers and other senior police officials attended the meeting.
