IGP pays tribute to police martyrs of Rescue 15 attack on 16th anniversary

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab,Abdul Kareem on Wednesday paid tribute to the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the suicide attack on the Rescue 15 building in Lahore in 2009.

"We salute the great sons of the soil and their families who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty," said IG Punjab Abdul Kareem.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police,14 officers and personnel of Punjab Police embraced martyrdom in the attack carried out on this day in 2009.

The martyrs included one inspector,two assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs),one head constable and 10 constables.

Inspector Abdul Rauf Sultan,ASIs Muhammad Nawaz and Ghulam Mustafa and Head Constable Muhammad Younis were among those who laid down their lives in the attack.

Constables Mubashir Haroon,Shakeel Ahmad,Umair Nazeer,Nisar Mansha and Muhammad Nadeem also embraced martyrdom,the spokesperson said.

Constables Mumtaz Hussain,Muhammad Akram,Imdad Ali,Muhammad Tahir and Intizar Hussain were also among the martyrs.
