IGP reviews security arrangements for central Ashura procession

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem on Friday visited the route of Lahore’s central

Ashura procession and reviewed security arrangements.

Accompanied by senior police officers, the IGP visited Imambargah Karbala Gamay Shah, where he received a detailed briefing on the security plan and overall arrangements for the central mourning procession.

He inspected security deployment along the procession route and directed police personnel stationed at various points to remain vigilant and perform their duties with professionalism.

Senior police officers briefed the IGP on the comprehensive security measures put in place for the central Ashura procession, including deployment of personnel and coordination among law enforcement agencies.

The IGP appreciated the services of police officials performing security duties and urged them to continue discharging their responsibilities with dedication and commitment.

During the visit, Abdul Kareem also met members of the Peace Committee and mourners, and inquired about the security arrangements and facilities provided for participants in the procession.

He said more than 100,000 Punjab Police officers and personnel had been deployed across the province to ensure security for mourning processions and Majalis on Ashura.
