IGP Sindh emphasises community policing, technology to strengthen law and order

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Javed Alam Odho on Monday underscored the importance of community policing and modern technology in ensuring sustainable peace and effective crime prevention during a meeting held at the Central Police Office Karachi.

According to a Sindh Police spokesperson, the IGP Sindh met a delegation led by Chief of Community Policing Karachi (CPK) Murad Sohni. The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in Karachi and Hyderabad, police performance, crime prevention strategies, and measures to promote community-based policing.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Sindh said that community policing plays a vital role in establishing lasting peace, adding that crime eradication goals cannot be achieved without active public participation.

He further noted that the use of modern technology, particularly the installation of CCTV cameras and the establishment of command and control systems, is significantly improving policing standards.

Appreciating the efforts of Murad Sohni and his team, the IG Sindh commended the installation of high-tech cameras at various locations in Karachi under the CPK initiative and the establishment of a command and control centre. He directed that the project be expanded further to ensure maximum protection of life and property of citizens.

Murad Sohni briefed the IGP Sindh on progress regarding the installation of high-tech cameras and the development of a command and control centre in Hyderabad.

The spokesperson said that under the supervision of CPK Hyderabad Chief Zubair Ghanghra, installation of high-tech CCTV cameras and formal launch of the command and control centre in Hyderabad are expected by the end of the current month.

The IGP Sindh termed the initiative a significant step towards ensuring public safety and curbing crime, stressing the need to replicate such modern projects in other cities of the province.

Deputy Chief CPK Imran Soomro and other officials were also present during the meeting.
