IGP visits Rajanpur Katcha Area to review security operations

RAJANPUR Feb 18 (APP) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 18th Feb, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Karim paid a special visit to the Katcha Area (riverine belt) of Rajanpur to review ongoing security operations and assess the law and order situation.

During the visit, the IGP inspected Circle Bangla Achha and several locations in the region. He was accompanied by Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, RPO DG Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram, and DPO Rajanpur Muhammad Imran.

RPO DG Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram briefed the IGP on the ongoing police operation against katcha criminals and the current security situation in the region.

The IGP also visited the Lunda Morr police check post, where he reviewed security arrangements, deployment of personnel, weapons and ammunition, defensive bunkers, and surveillance through thermal dome cameras. He further inspected surrounding areas using drone cameras and interacted with officers and personnel stationed at the post.

In a gesture of encouragement, he shared a meal with the troops and appreciated their dedication.

The IGP stated that under the courageous leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the katcha operation has achieved significant success, marking the beginning of a new era of peace and stability in the region. He added that the Punjab government has announced a special relief package aimed at improving education, healthcare, and basic infrastructure in the katcha areas.

The IGP stressed that those who surrender will be treated in accordance with the law and no excesses will be tolerated. However, he warned that individuals who challenge the writ of the state and refuse to surrender will be dealt with firmly. Authorities say the operation is part of a broader effort to restore long-term peace and development in the riverine belt.
