IHC questions authority of Food Controller

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Apr, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday expressed strong displeasure over the actions of the food Controller Islamabad in a case concerning the seizure and sealing of two flour trucks.

Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas questioned how the Food Controller Islamabad could take action in an area falling under Rawalpindi’s jurisdiction.

The court also sought clarification regarding the legal authority under which fines were imposed.

The state counsel argued that the Food Controller acted within delegated powers, but the court directed that documentary evidence, including relevant gazette notifications, be presented.

The court further questioned the absence of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and directed that a detailed report on the powers of the Food Controller be submitted.

The hearing was adjourned until April 9.
