ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to the respondents and sought their reply regarding a petition seeking protective measures and legal rights for lawyers across the country.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by Advocate Syed Mahfooz-ul-Hasan. Advocate Shahid Khokhar appeared before the court on behalf of the petitioner.

During the proceedings, the counsel argued that despite various representations, letters, and demands submitted by different bar associations and individual lawyers, the existing law concerning the protection of lawyers has never been implemented.

"The law clearly outlines provisions for the security of lawyers, the establishment of special courts, a security mechanism, a martyrs' package, health facilities, and other legal rights," Advocate Khokhar submitted before the court.

He further contended that the law has been reduced to a mere paperwork exercise.

Subsequently, the court issued notices to the concerned parties and sought their response. The hearing was then adjourned until a later date.
