The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday restrained the Capital Development Authority from carrying out any tree cutting along Ataturk Avenue, from Express Chowk to Agha Khan Road in the federal capital
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday restrained the Capital Development Authority from carrying out any tree cutting along Ataturk Avenue, from Express Chowk to Agha Khan Road in the Federal capital.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the case filed by a citizen, Ayesha Muzaffar. The petitioner was represented by Advocates Mudassar Latif Abbasi and Umair Asad.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel argued that despite a clear court order issued on January 15, 2026, restraining tree cutting in Islamabad, the CDA was continuing to remove trees under the pretext of road expansion.
It was further submitted that more than 55 large trees and dozens of smaller ones were likely to be cut due to the project. The counsel also questioned the contradiction between environmental measures, such as the imposition of environmental levies on fuel, and the ongoing tree cutting.
After hearing arguments, the court issued notices to the CDA, restrained it from any kind of tree cutting in the specified area, and sought replies from the parties.
The hearing was adjourned until next week.
