ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th May, 2026) The district administration and Forest Department have intensified operations against illegal deforestation and timber smuggling in Abbottabad, carrying out a major crackdown on unlawful sawmills and timber depots in the areas of Mangal and Qalandarabad.
The operation was conducted by Additional Assistant Commissioner Kamran Ali Shah, accompanied by officers and personnel of the Galliyat Forest Division, led the joint action aimed at curbing illegal logging and protecting forest resources in the region.
During the crackdown, officials seized a vehicle loaded with illegal pine timber and took it into custody. Authorities also raided a timber depot where a quantity of timber was confiscated for violating forest regulations.
The inspection team further reviewed the records of registered sawmills operating in Mangal and Qalandarabad to verify their legal status and compliance with government regulations.

According to officials, a large quantity of timber was recovered during the operation and handed over to the Forest Department for further legal proceedings. District administration officials stated that indiscriminate cutting of forests poses a serious threat to the environment and natural ecosystem, adding that strict measures are being taken to prevent illegal logging activities in Abbottabad and adjoining areas.
The district administration and Forest Department reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint operations against timber smugglers and illegal sawmill operators to ensure the protection and conservation of forests across the district.
