Doctors observe signs of retinal inflammation in right eye but note a significant reduction in swelling
RAWALPINDI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-Feb 16th, 2026) A two-member medical board has reported improvement in the eye condition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan following a detailed examination at Adiala Jail.
The medical report showed that the examination was conducted on February 15, 2026, by a board comprising senior ophthalmologists. The board included Prof Dr Nadeem Qureshi from Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and Prof Dr Muhammad Arif Khan from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
The report stated that without corrective glasses, the vision in Imran Khan’s right eye was recorded at 6/24 partial, while the left eye measured 6/9. With glasses, the vision in the right eye improved to 6/9 partial and the left eye to 6/6.
Doctors observed signs of retinal inflammation in the right eye but noted a significant reduction in swelling. The thickness in the right eye decreased from 550 to 350, which the medical board described as a positive sign of recovery.
The board prescribed Nevanac and Systane Ultra eye drops for both eyes, while Cosopt drops were recommended specifically for the right eye. The report further noted that his overall vision had improved from 6/36 to 6/9 partial, terming it satisfactory at this stage of treatment.
Specialists advised that after the completion of anti-VEGF therapy, further diagnostic tests, including OCT angiography and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), should be conducted for comprehensive evaluation.
The report also mentioned that opposition leaders Allama Nasir Abbas and Barrister Gohar Khan visited PIMS later in the evening and were briefed on the former premier’s health in the presence of doctors.
According to the document, Imran Khan’s personal physicians and party representatives expressed satisfaction with the medical facilities and treatment being provided.
