ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Indian forces have continued what critics describe as a pattern of state violence in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, where ongoing tensions and security operations persist and in this context, reports indicate that 10 Kashmiris have been killed so far this year, further intensifying concerns among observers about the continuing cycle of unrest in the region.
According to a report issued by the Research Section of the Kashmir Media Service, eight of the Kashmiris killed during this period were allegedly martyred in staged encounters or died in custody.
The report further states that Indian army and paramilitary personnel, along with police and officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA), carried out widespread operations across the region, resulting in the arrest of as many as 933 individuals, including Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, students and women.
It also highlights that at least 32 people sustained injuries after security forces used force and teargas shells against what were described as peaceful protesters.
Additionally, one residential house was reported damaged during cordon and search operations conducted in the same period.
The IIOJK administration, under the direct control of New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, continued punitive measures by attaching properties, including homes and land, of over forty-three (43) Kashmiris in the last three months.
Additionally, nine Kashmiri Muslim employees were suspended from their government jobs as part of the ongoing anti-Kashmir policies of the BJP regime.
The troops martyred two youth in a fake encounter in the last month of March.
The report said India is using state terrorism as an official policy to punish Kashmiris for challenging its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir. It maintained that IIOJK has witnessed a new wave of oppression after Narendra Modi came to power, with fake encounters, killings, abductions, and torture by Indian forces becoming a routine matter in the
territory.
The report added that Indian troops’ brutalities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir increased to an alarming level after the RSS-backed BJP regime, through military force, illegally revoked the special status of the territory by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019.
It maintained that the lives of Kashmiris have been made economically, politically, and socially miserable, with the illegal move aimed at changing the Muslim-majority status of the territory into a minority.
