ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2026) Award-winning Indian social activist Sandeep Pandey has expressed concern over the sentencing of Hurriyat leaders Asiya Andrabi, Fahmida Sofi, and Naheed Nasreen by the NIA court, stating that it reflects poorly on Indian courts' commitment to justice.
In a statement issued here, Pandey criticized the Indian government's actions in Kashmir, saying that by revoking Article 370, India has stripped Kashmiris of their rights. "India has abolished Kashmir's constitutional status, taken away the state's autonomy, and stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its legislative assembly and chief minister's powers," he said.
He condemned the Indian government's bias against Kashmiri Muslims, citing the treatment of Kashmiri Muslim students at Vishnu Devi Medical College. Pandey also criticized the Pulwama incident, stating that over 2,500 Kashmiri youth were arrested, and many remain in jail.
Pandey demanded the release of thousands of innocent Kashmiri prisoners and justice for the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Hurriyat leaders Raja Khadim Hussain and Abdul Hamid Lone welcomed Pandey's statement, urging Indians to raise their voices against human rights abuses and injustices in Kashmir.
