LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem visited the Katcha area of Rajanpur and conducted a detailed review of the ongoing operation and overall security situation in the riverine belt.
According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the IGP visited Circle Bangla Acha in the Katcha area, accompanied by Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram and DPO Rajanpur Muhammad Imran.
During the visit, RPO D.G. Khan Muhammad Azhar Akram gave a comprehensive briefing to the IGP Punjab regarding police operations against Katcha criminals and the current law and order situation in Rajanpur.
The IGP Punjab also inspected the Linda Mor police check post established in the Katcha area. He reviewed security arrangements, strength of deployed personnel, availability of weapons and ammunition, bunkers and monitoring through thermal dome cameras. He further examined the surrounding areas through drone cameras.
IGP Punjab Abdul Kareem met the personnel deployed at the check post and shared a meal with them, appreciating their courage and high morale.
He directed the RPO D.G. Khan to take comprehensive measures for the welfare of officials posted in the Katcha area.
The IGP Punjab said that under the courageous leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Katcha operation had achieved significant success and marked the beginning of a new era of peace and stability in the region.
He said the visit aimed at reviewing the current situation and future operational strategy in the Katcha area, adding that successful operations had led to restoration of law and order.
Abdul Kareem said the Punjab government had announced a special relief package for education, health and basic infrastructure in the Katcha area. He added that more than 577 criminals had so far surrendered during the Katcha operation.
He said those who laid down arms would be treated strictly in accordance with the law and no excess would be allowed, warning that elements challenging the writ of the state and refusing to surrender would be dealt with firmly.
In line with the vision of the chief minister Punjab, the Katcha area would be transformed into a cradle of peace, he added.
