Inter-Uiversity Football Championship 2025–26 (Zone-K) kicks off at SAU

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Apr, 2026) The Inter-University Football Championship 2025–26 (Zone-K), organized by the Directorate of Sports of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam in collaboration with the Higher education Commission (HEC), started here on Thursday at the university’s football ground.

The championship was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, who formally opened the event by kicking off the inaugural football. A large number of faculty members and senior administrators attended the ceremony.

Teams from several universities were participating in the event, including Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam, University of Sindh Jamshoro, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Sakrand and Isra University Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor SAU said that sports played a vital role in promoting healthy activities among students and help develop discipline, teamwork and a spirit of positive competition. He added that universities must equally focus on co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside academic development, as these contribute to the overall personality building of students.

He reaffirmed that SAU was committed to providing maximum opportunities for students in both academic and non-academic spheres.

On the first day of the championship, two matches were played. In the opening match, hosts Sindh Agriculture University defeated Isra University Hyderabad by 5–2 after an impressive performance. In the second match, the University of Sindh Jamshoro secured a 4–1 victory against Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Sakrand.

Director Sports Shaukat Ali Sangi welcomed the guests and briefed them about the arrangements and conduct of the championship.

Among those present were Dean Faculty of Crop Production Prof. Dr. Inayatullah Rajper, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences Prof. Dr. Ghiasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dean Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Munir Ahmed Mangrio, Chairman Sports Management Committee Prof. Dr. Zaheeruddin Mirani, Muhammad Umar Dasti, Public Relations Officer Gul Sher Loachi along with other faculty members.
