LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) The annual Interfaith Eid Milan Party was held at Naulakha Presbyterian Church, bringing together religious leaders, political figures and members of various faith communities to promote harmony, tolerance and national unity, here on Wednesday.

The event was hosted by Reverend Dr. Majeed Abel and attended by Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Archbishop Azad Marshall, former provincial minister Ijaz Alam, Parliamentary Secretary Sonia Asher, former senator Kamran Michael, MPAs Tariq Masih Gill and Emmanuel Athar, Professor Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Chairman Kul Maslak board Maulana Asim Makhdoom, and members of the United Interfaith Organisation, including Mufti Ashiq Hussain and Professor Dr. Mahmood Ghaznavi, among others.

In his welcome address, Reverend Dr. Majeed Abel said that Eid Milan gatherings serve as an effective platform to promote interfaith harmony, love and mutual respect. He emphasised that people of all religions in Pakistan live with brotherhood and such events further strengthen this tradition.

Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that interfaith harmony is the need of the hour, adding that religious scholars will continue to spread the message of peace, tolerance and unity.

He said islam teaches love, peace and service to humanity, which are common values shared by all religions.

Archbishop Azad Marshall said that such gatherings provide an opportunity to bridge gaps between different faiths and foster understanding, while acknowledging the positive role of minorities in Pakistan.

Professor Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri prayed for global peace and unity, noting the challenging situation in the region, and stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure peace. He also paid tribute to Reverend Majeed Abel for his services in promoting interfaith harmony over the past 25 years.

Maulana Asim Makhdoom underscored the importance of unity and religious harmony, urging collective efforts for the country’s development.

Other speakers, including Ijaz Alam and Sonia Asher, also appreciated the host’s contributions and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting interfaith cohesion.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s integrity and global peace by Pastor Arif Siraj, Father Asif Sardar, Father Naqash and Archbishop Azad Marshall. A commemorative shield was also presented to Professor Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri in recognition of his election to a UNESCO Chair.
