International research conference kicks off at Gomal medical college

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2026) A three-day fourth annual international research conference has formally commenced at Gomal Medical College, bringing together medical experts, doctors, and researchers from across the country and abroad.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Dean Dr. Naseem Saba Mehsud welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of promoting medical research, fostering international dialogue, and strengthening collaboration among institutions.

She stated that advancing modern medical research and transferring it to the next generation of doctors is a critical need of the time.

She further highlighted that implementing research in practical settings, introducing innovation in patient care, and engaging students in a research-oriented environment are essential for a dynamic healthcare system.

“Theoretical research alone is not sufficient; it must be delivered to young doctors through practical training, workshops, and seminars,” she added.

The conference is being attended by delegates from various medical fields, while international experts joined via online platforms. Speakers on the first day included Dr. Imran Khan, Dr. Sadiya Waheed, Dr. Mehboob ur Rehman, Dr. Saif ur Rehman, and Dr. Roheena Gul, who spoke on topics such as innovation in medical research, global challenges, data management, public health, and medical education.

Chairman of the board of Governors Raza Ali Khan Gandapur attended the event as the chief guest.

He appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for effective collaboration between public and private sectors to promote medical research.

The three-day conference will feature multiple sessions, research paper presentations, panel discussions, and detailed deliberations on emerging trends in the medical field. The event aims to bring together national and international experts on one platform, enhance research collaboration, and promote advancements in the healthcare sector.
