The IRGC says strikes were launched shortly after Israeli forces targeted multiple radar sites in different regions of Iran
TEHRAN: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 8th, 2026) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it carried out missile strikes targeting two major Israeli airbases, Nevatim and Tel Nof, in response to recent Israeli attacks on Iranian radar installations.
The IRGC said the strikes were launched shortly after Israeli forces targeted multiple radar sites in different regions of Iran. Iranian authorities described the operation as a direct retaliation for what they called “aggressive actions” by Israel.
The statement added that Israel had earlier struck radar facilities located in three separate areas inside Iran, prompting Tehran’s response. However, no details were provided regarding the extent of damage or casualties resulting from the missile attacks on the Israeli bases.
Nevatim and Tel Nof are among Israel’s key airbases and play a central role in the operations of the Israeli Air Force. Israeli authorities have not immediately issued a detailed response to the Iranian claims, and independent verification of the reported strikes has not yet been possible.
The escalation comes amid rising tensions between the two regional rivals, with international actors urging restraint and warning against further deterioration of the security situation in the middle East.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The analysts caution that continued retaliatory actions could further destabilise the region and deepen the ongoing crisis.
Earlier, an Israeli strike reportedly targeted a major petrochemical facility in Mahshahr city in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province.
According to Iran’s Fars news Agency, a local security official confirmed that Israeli forces struck the Karun Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, causing damage to parts of the plant. Details regarding the extent of destruction and potential casualties are expected to be released later.
The Israeli military also acknowledged the operation, stating in a brief statement that its air force had recently targeted several sites at a petrochemical complex in Mahshahr. Further details were not immediately provided.
Mahshahr is considered one of Iran’s key industrial and energy hubs, housing several major petrochemical installations. The latest strike is being viewed as a significant escalation in the ongoing military confrontation between Iran and Israel, raising concerns over regional security and potential impacts on the energy sector.
The local authorities in Iran have not yet issued a final assessment of casualties or operational disruption at the facility, while the situation remains under close monitoring.
