White House avoids clear stance on second round of talks
TEHRAN/WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - April 13th, 2026) Iran has said that peace and stability in the middle East can only be achieved through cooperation among regional countries and without foreign interference, as the White House declined to take a clear position on the next round of U.S.-Iran talks.
The Iranian media reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the remarks during a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, in which he reiterated Tehran’s commitment to regional peace and stability. He stressed that lasting peace depends on cooperation between regional states while excluding US intervention.
The Omani foreign minister, meanwhile, expressed hope that stability in the region would be restored soon.
In Washington, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and the US negotiating team had already clearly defined Washington’s position and red lines regarding talks with Iran.
She added that pressure on Iran had increased following a US maritime blockade, which could further push Tehran toward seeking an agreement.
