Iran’s proposal suggests postponing nuclear talks with the United States for now.
Iran has put forward new conditions for the possible restoration of the Strait of Hormuz and a reduction in regional tensions.
According to a report by US based outlet Axios, a US official and two sources familiar with the matter said that Iran has presented a new proposal to the United States, linking progress on the Strait of Hormuz to the next phase of nuclear negotiations.
The report stated that Iran has suggested postponing nuclear talks with the United States for the time being, while prioritising efforts to reduce tensions in the region and restore maritime routes.
According to sources the proposal was reportedly conveyed to Washington through Pakistani intermediaries although it has not been officially confirmed.
The report also claimed that if an agreement is reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on Iranian ports are eased, it may become difficult for the United States to maintain pressure on Iran regarding a nuclear deal.
This development has further accelerated diplomatic and political activity in the region with global powers closely monitoring the situation.
