Iranian Interior Minister visits Iqbal's mausoleum

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) The Iranian Interior Minister Eskander Momeni on Thursday visited mausoleum of poet of the East Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, laid a floral wreath at the grave and offered Fateha.

Eskander Momeni eulogized the lofty poetic works of the great philosopher and hailed his services to the Muslim ummah. He also prayed for the progress, prosperity and stability of both countries.

Earlier, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi warmly welcomed Iranian Interior Minister Eskander Momeni upon his arrival at Lahore Airport.

The Governor accompanied the Iranian Interior Minister to the Mazar-e-Iqbal.

Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that Pakistan’s doors are always open for its Iranian brothers. He said that both Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries and ties between the two countries are rooted in religion, culture and history.

He said that Pakistan will stand with Iran in every difficult moment. He said that Pakistan has played a key role for peace in the region by playing the role of mediator in the Iran-US war.

He said that Pakistan has always raised its voice for the sovereignty and geographical integrity of Islamic countries at the global level.
