ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee and Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, on Wednesday said ongoing regional tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel along with missile and drone attacks on Arab and Islamic countries, followed by ceasefire developments and subsequent negotiations, have placed Islamabad at the center of global attention.
In a statement, he said recent visits by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkiye, as well as diplomatic engagements taking place in Islamabad, represent significant progress toward restoring peace in the region.
He said when the conflict first escalated, Pakistan’s leadership including Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, visited Saudi Arabia and held consultations with the Saudi leadership, particularly Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
These engagements, he said, helped maintain unity within the Muslim Ummah and contributed to the initiation of a peace process, the benefits of which are now becoming visible.
Ashrafi said as the situation moves toward a decisive phase, there is growing expectation that “the candle of peace will be lit from Islamabad,” adding that the positive outcomes of Pakistan’s recent diplomatic outreach will soon become evident.
He further said unity among Muslim countries could bring the issues of Palestine (Al-Quds) and Kashmir closer to resolution, stressing that collective unity of the Ummah remains the only viable path to addressing shared challenges.
Commenting on Pakistan-Saudi relations, he said the ties between the two countries are rooted in faith and shared belief, with both nations standing by each other in times of difficulty.
He expressed gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for Saudi Arabia’s continued economic support to Pakistan.
Ashrafi said Saudi assistance has played an important role in strengthening Pakistan’s economic stability, adding that the country is moving forward not only in terms of defense strength but also toward economic resilience.
He concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the mission of Muslim unity, expressing confidence that these efforts would achieve success in the near future.
