Army Chief Eyal Zamir says he was raising “10 red flags,” cautioning that reserve troops may no longer be able to perform effectively on the battlefield
TEL AVIV: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 27th, 2026) Eyal Zamir, Chief of the Israel Defense Forces, has issued a severe warning about the risk of internal breakdown within the Israeli military if reforms related to reserve soldiers are not implemented.
Zamir said he was raising “10 red flags,” cautioning that reserve troops may no longer be able to perform effectively on the battlefield – the soldiers’ down morale. He emphasized that without amendments to laws concerning reserve forces and other necessary measures, the army could face a structural collapse.
Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett highlighted that Israel currently faces a shortage of 20,000 soldiers and criticized the government for engaging in conflict without adequate planning, resources, or troop strength.
Hezi Lepped, a member of Israel’s security cabinet for 13 years, said he had never heard such a grave warning from an army chief during his tenure, underscoring the seriousness of Zamir’s statement.
