ITP issues traffic plan for 8th Muharram procession in G-6

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Wednesday issued a traffic management plan for the 8th Muharram procession in Sector G-6 and advised citizens to use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.

An ITP official told APP that the procession would commence at 1:00 p.m. from House No. 443-A, Street No. 71, Sector G-6/1 and proceed via the G-6/1-2 stop and Masjid Darussalam before concluding at an Imambargah in Sector G-6/2.

The official said special traffic arrangements had been made to facilitate mourners and ensure smooth traffic flow in and around the procession route.

According to the traffic plan, traffic diversions would be placed at the CDA Hospital side, Melody Chowk side and Iqbal Hall side during the procession.

Citizens have been advised to use Municipal Road as an alternate route to avoid delays.

Residents of G-6/1 and G-6/2 may use the Service Road, Ambassador Hotel Road and Suhrawardy Road for travelling to and from the area.

Similarly, motorists may also use 7th Avenue as an alternate route during the procession.

The official requested citizens to cooperate with traffic police personnel and use alternate routes to help maintain smooth traffic flow.

Participants in the procession were advised to park their vehicles and motorcycles only in designated parking areas.

For further traffic updates and travel advisories, citizens may follow Islamabad Traffic Police social media platforms or tune in to FM 92.4, the official added.
